An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a certain site. Any file that was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have one page with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, browser and IP address. Sometimes you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your website. The info which an access log file features is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to prepare reports on the overall performance of a website, besides the web statistics which your web hosting server may have created.

You could activate this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, integrated with all shared accounts. Each domain you host or subdomain you set up shall be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can easily activate or disable the generation of access logs individually for every single site that you have. You can save a log to your personal computer by clicking on the Download link that you will see in the same section of the CP. The link will be available even if you deactivate the log generation, so you will still have access to the data collected by our system.

Our sophisticated website hosting platform will generate access logs for each Internet site hosted within a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is enabled. All domains and subdomains that you have will be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, that we provide with all the accounts, so if you'd like our system to start creating logs for any of them, you should simply click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You may deactivate this function whenever you want by following the very same steps. You can find a Download link for each log inside the same section of the CP, so you will be able to save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with only a click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the feature has been deactivated, so you will still be able to see the data that has already been generated.
